On October 6, 12 and 13 the Riga-based Skaņu Mežs festival for adventurous music reached its all-time highest attendance numbers. Some of the most crowded moments of the event featured SHAPE acts onstage, including Caterina Barbieri, TESA, NAKED and 2015 alumnus N1L, who performed at the opening of the festival. The Portuguese free improvising ensemble RED Trio also performed with the Grammy award nominated microtonal viola player Mat Maneri for the very first time.
Several SHAPE educational events were also organized with prominent guests of the festival – a lecture on spectral music by composer Tristan Murail, a microtonal improvisation workshop with Mat Maneri and a Q&A session with ambient music composer William Basinski.
