On this edition of our show, you’ll hear a concert by Ursula Sereghy, Esteban De La Torre and Orsolya Kaincz’s as a result of their weeklong residency organised by UH Fest and SHAPE+ in Budapest.
With a background in playing jazz and formative years of playing saxophone in a live band, Prague-based Ursula Sereghy stepped out of the hustle to focus, all while becoming a regular at the local Synth Library Prague. An extensive period of voluntary detachment from everyday life during the pandemic gave rise to the stunningly confident debut album ‘OK Box’ fabricated by this dark horse of a producer.
Orsolya Kaincz is a Budapest based musician, organiser who has been working with sound and organising contemporary music events for more than a decade. As a self-taught musician her interest in music gradually shifted focus from instrumental free improvisation and performing conceptual compositions to electroacoustic experimentation and sound art.
Born in Mexico City, Esteban de la Torre is a sound and new media artist based in Budapest. His practice focuses on defining thresholds and signal paths within a system in order to incite emerging environments into existence. Working between drone music and expanded psycho-acoustic minimalism he strongly pivots on the physicality of spatialized sound. Soundspaces are not spaces containing sound, but spaces created by sound.
